2024 Amuse Bouche Napa Valley Red Blend

Amuse Bouche

2024 Amuse Bouche Napa Valley Red Blend

The 2024 growing season in Napa Valley mirrored the exceptional conditions of the previous year, offering an ideal farming environment for our Napa Valley fruit. We harvested by block during the last week of September and the first week in October. The blend is 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc from our estate vineyards in the eastern Rutherford Hills; and we believe this bottle of wine will live up to all of the expectations that we have for this vintage!

Amuse Bouche 2024 features the original artwork (entitled Gondolà a Napa) of legendary French artist, Bernard Louedin.

The Artist: Bernard Louedin

Artist Bernard Louedin painting

Born in Rennes, France in 1938, the 87-year-old painter has been working his craft since the age of 15. Self-described as Contemporary meets Surrealist, Bernard's art has been showcased in dozens of books and hundreds of exhibitions and galleries around the world. He derives pleasure in art by transforming objects to create a different and believable universe. He characterizes his style as a vision of metamorphosis of the tools in his mental garden. Bernard notes that, “The act of creating is therefore a rumination, a desire for expression which takes hold of every moment, preventing us from making anything else while clocks tick time away. Painting is genuine when it reaches a ridge line, which re-enchants the world and conveys beauty as a mysterious energy. The Meaning of Art is About Feeling Things More Deeply."

"Sleek, delicious, well-balanced and drinkable, yet nicely structured with good fruit acidity and moderate tannins. So linear, fresh and lively, yet silky in texture. Light cherries and cream at first, then black cherries and blackcurrants as you sip. 92% merlot and 8% cabernet franc. A beautiful, composed and complete wine since the first vintage in 2002. Drink or hold."

"The 2023 Amuse Bouche is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it swans out of the glass with notes of juicy black plums, green coffee beans, and ripe black cherries, plus nuances of fragrant soil and bay leaves. The full-bodied palate is velvety-textured and refreshing with juicy black-fruit flavors and a savory lift on the finish."

"A blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley's eastern hills, Amuse Bouche's 2023 Red Wine continues the line of top-flight Merlots under this Heidi Barrett-made label. Gentle herbal-floral nuances add complexity to the ripe cherries on the nose, while the medium- to full-bodied palate is plush and silky and finishes long and a bit tart, giving it a great sense of liveliness and freshness."

"The 2023 Amuse Bouche is elegant, restrained, and super expressive. Dark red/purplish-toned fruit, spice, mocha and lavender all grace this wonderfully open-knit, seductive wine. Understated and reserved, the 2023 impresses with its sneaky persistence and long, refined finish. I have seen this wine blossom with time in bottle, and I expect that will be the case here as well."
